Carve the Mark -Veronica Roth

Carve the Mark is a young adult science fiction by Veronica Roth, author of the Divergent series. Released in 2017, Carve the Mark is the first book in a duology. The characters of the book live among nine planets: Othyr, Koloande, Ogra, Essander, Zold, Pitha, Trella, Tepes and Thuvhe/Urek.
All though, the Shotet and Thuvhesits live on the same planet(Thuvhe/Urek) they disagree on a lot of issues and envy each other.
Cyra Noavek, daughter of Lazmet Noavek, the ruler of Shotet, is a young girl with a "current gift" of constant pain in the form of black liquid coursing through her veins. Akos Kereseth, son of Sifa Kereseth, oracle of Thuvhe, has a very unique current gift. He cannot feel the current and so he can disable the current gifts of others.
With the ability to cause pain to others with just a touch, Cyra is referred as "Ryzek's Scourage" and constantly used as a weapon by Ryzek, her brother. With their fates intertwined, Akos and Cyra strategise to bring down Ryzek's rule along with the help of some Shotet renegades.
Roth, like every time, has shown a great deal of excellence in the creation of new worlds and situations. What I love about the book is that it keeps you interested and curious about what happens next.
Though, in a few parts, there is a lack of information and understanding. Especially, the beginning of the novel can be a bit confusing. But just like Roth's earlier books, Carve the Mark will surely leave you waiting for the next one! As for curious readers, this book is completely mesmerizing and instilling. A must read for science fiction lovers.
