One of us is lying is a novel about 5 students who are strangers to each other but happen to be together on a fateful day. Bronwyn Rojas, Cooper Clay, Simon Kelleher, Adelaide Prentiss and Nate Macaulay all enter detention together but only 4 walk out.  
Bronwyn Rojas is a smart, organized geek who has an innate need to achieve perfectionism in all things she does. A Yale aspirant, she's always on top of her class and never fails to follow a rule until one day she makes a mistake that causes major upheaval in her life. 
Cooper Clay is the boy with the dreamy eyes and a tan that makes him the good-looking jock that he is. With the perfect striker that he can throw, he is a varsity champion and one of the popular students at school until one day everyone turns on him. 
Nate Macaulay, has an air of nonchalance around him and he never fails to get detention for something or the other. With criminal probation on his hands for dealing, this boy is smarter than he seems to be but easily the scapegoat. 
Addy Prentiss is the beauty queen with soft blonde curls that help her stand out in every room.  The picture-perfect homecoming princess seems to have her life sorted out until one day when a confession causes her to lose everything. 
By the end of detention, Simon is dead but according to the investigators he has been murdered. The only suspects in the case are the 4 other students present in the room when Simon died. And each one of them has a plausible reason to shut Simon up. 
Will the Bayview Four, the name they earn, turn against one another? Or are they being wrongfully framed by someone else? It all comes down to how far one is willing to go to keep one's secrets safe!
An amazing read if you wish to get out of a reading slump

  In the age of the internet and the ever-increasing influence of social media in our lives, every once in a while the reader in me finds herself picking up a book that was unsurprisingly recommended to me through "Tik-Tok" exported reels. Blue Sisters- Coco Mellors

  Sisterhood in all its forms and glory has been my north star. Obviously, the universe decided not to give me a sister as a sibling yet sisterhood finds its roots in the most other-worldly relationships. But if I am actually being honest, sisterhood is also tiring. Being a "girls girl" requires empathy and sacrifice and a perpetual positive outlook on the circumstances life happens to throw at you which in my candid opinion, is not my cup of tea. Furthermore, if I am actually traversing the path of candidness and deadpan hilarity, the universe also decided not to humor me with the gift of an all-encompassing and enriching female friendship thereby leading to this defeatist attitude.  Emotional vomit aside, Blue Sisters was my attempt at sisterhood, one step towards my north star in order to simply understand and for once, enjoy the ever-giving love that popular culture said sisterhood brings with itself. Cleopatra and Frankenstein- Coco Mellers

  A reading slump often plagues one's life numerous times and a catchy title with a beautiful cover as this book is probably one that gets you out of it. A book reader unknowingly (knowingly for that matter) always has certain standards to judge a book and obviously, Sally Rooney set those for me. And to my sheer surprise (and extreme joy) Coco Mellors has done a brilliant job with her writing and characters. Cleo and Frank are funnily, two people who had similar experiences as children mostly characterized by absent parents and a traumatizing childhood but they are different in age and behavior. One would say age is just a number, but when Cleo, a British artist, marries Frank who is twenty years older than her and a man of success, things take a turn for the bad. I have to be honest, you really have to put some stereotypical notions on your side table as you turn the pages of the book.
